KFC Avengers Thor

KFC's Avengers collectable for this week is Thor.

I was hoping for Thor to be just as good as Captain America but alas he's not. The head is the worst part. The way his hair is sculpted and looks is like he's advertising for a shampoo commercial. He's got an uninterested look on his face. His pupils are so big you think he'll try the same tactic as Puss in Boots in Shrek. His torso is pretty much a rectangle with some design on it. Sorry, I got ahead of myself there. I almost forgot that this is a fast food toy. Check him out for yourself. You can click on the images to enlarge.

Mjolnir is removeable. It fits loosely in his hand. (Caution for those with young kids or pets, the hammer is a choking hazzard.) There's a good reason for that and that is for his gimmick. Raise his rght arm until it locks into position, then push the button on his back and he'll throw his hammer. It works pretty well. I think its the best part of the toy. For articulation, you can only move his arms.

Comparison with the Hasbro figure.

That's all for now, thanks for viewing!

The Avengers 3.75" Shock Strike Thor

Thor rounds up the Avengers movie 3.75" figures released so far. Well, there's also the Hulk but I didn't get him as I prefer the 5" figure from the Incredible Hulk movie line.

Thor is a nice figure. Good sculpt. He's got a better likeness than the figures from the Thor movie line. He has a mean high and mighty look. And the straighter hair makes a difference. The costume is of a different design from previously. There's great detail on it. The cape is the same one that came with previous Thor movie figures. Its long and grand but it can hinder posing him, especially in crouching or kneeling positions. He's got good paint. I like the navy blue colour instead of black.

This figure is slightly taller than the previous Thor movie figures. The unarticulated body does make him look better.

Aside from the regular Mjolnir, he comes with a hammer launcher. Its pretty cool looking with the lightning effects. It has a peg and clip for him to hold it with. The projectile is a lightning charged Mjolnir. With the projectile loaded, its difficult for him to stand with the launcher.

Thor doesn't need no launcher. He can throw Mjolnir on his own.

Articulation, He's got a ball joint neck, ball hinge shoulders, swivel hinge elbows, ball hinge hips, thigh swivel and double jointed knees. That's the same as Captain America.

I like that there is some height difference between the characters.

I think this is the best figure of the 3.75" Avengers movie characters released so far. I recommend getting it. That's all for now, thanks for viewing!

Hot Toys The Avengers Exclusive Iron Man Mark VI Launch

Dropped by the event to take a look.

Action City / Hot Toys occupied about a quarter of the atrium. They had several Avengers figures on display.

Here's the Avengers Movie Exclusive Iron-Man Mark VI. Only the first 120 will get the Avengers logo light up pendant. You can click on the images to enlarge.

The upcoming Nick Fury figure was on display.

Just a couple of the other figures. They are not available for purchase.

There were some statues, Funko items and Marvel Bishoujo staues available from Simply Toys.

Singpost had a booth there offering the new Avengers MyStamp Collection. They also had their previous collections such as the Spiderman Ultimate 50 and Marvel Comics set.

Build-a-Bear-Workshop had cute displays of bears in Avengers outfits. There's an outlet in the mall where you can purchase them.

There were several fun areas. I think you need to purchase a certain amount to play the games. You can watch the the trailer of the Avengers movie and read up on the characters.

Test your strength with a hammer.

If you don't fancy the hammer then use your fist.

Shoot the targets with Nerf guns.

There were sketches and movie images displayed around the atrium as well.

Catch Iron Man in person from 27th April - 2nd May at 1pm, 3pm and 6pm daily.

Finally, Isetan was selling Avengers toys, Disney toys and apparel.

You can view more images here: Nex Avengers Event

The event lasts till 6th May if you want to order the exclusive Hot Toys Iron Man or check out the displays and activities.

The Avengers 3.75" Shield Launcher Captain America

Captain America gets his turn in the spotlight.

Decent figure, looks pretty good. He's got a new costume. The top half of it looks bulky and stiff. The blue portion of his torso is raised a little too much and the way it is sculpted makes it look like an armour piece. The red and white potion while movie accurate kind of reminds me of a girdle. No wonder there's no torso articulation. I'm fine with the rest of his costume. I like the shape of his boots. And I like the raised star on the front. I don't like the one on his back for the hole in the middle of it. The paint is okay. Its not as good as Iron Man and Loki. There's bleeding at the mask and and on his back. I think the blue is supposed to be darker. I'll check up on that when I watch the movie.

Comparison with other Captain America figures. The time spent frozen must have shrunk him. He's slightly shorter than the First Avenger movie Captain America.

For accessories, he comes with his shield, a pistol and a shield launcher. Another shield is provided for use with the launcher. Its slightly bigger than the regular shield. The launcher has a clip and peg for you to attach it to his wrist or back. The clip is rather small and I couldn't comfortably attach it to his wrist. If you don't want to risk scraping paint off, you can have him  hold the peg portion instead. To fire the shield, you push the back of the launcher. The regular shield has only got straps for the figure to hold it with.

Articulation. He's got a ball joint neck, ball hinge shoulders, swivel hinge elbows, ball hinge hips, thigh swivel and double jointed knees. Yup thats right, he's got double jointed knees, and what a difference it makes.

I mentioned earlier about the figure being shorter. In armour Iron Man is supposed to be taller so this will work.

I think this is one of the better figures in the line. Do check him out for yourself if you see him on the pegs. Thanks for viewing!
