Batman Unlimited Beware the Batman

Picked this up loose the other day. The seller must have really wanted to get rid of it as it was cheap.

I can see why some people are put off by it. He's plain, gangly and awkward looking. To be honest, I also didn't want it. But for the price I paid, I thought might as well get him for the animated collection. This is actually not too bad a figure. It's just the style of it. The look and likeness is spot on to how he appears in the show. The logo is a little hard to make out. He's got some paint issues, most notably around his mask. The edges have bleeding and a part of his cowl on his left side was not painted fully. He can stand quite decently despite his thin ankles.

Articulation. He's got a ball hinge neck, ball hinge shoulders, swivel hinge elbows, wrist swivel, waist rotation, peg hinge hips, swivel hinge elbows and swivel hinge ankles. There's not much bend at the elbows and knees. And the ankle hinge is not very functionable.

Comparison shots.

We're unlikely to get any villains from the series. We can pull some from the Power Attack and Young Justice lines to keep him company.

Get this figure only if it's heavily discounted. Thanks for viewing!

STGCC 2013 Part 3: ENTERBAY

ENTERBAY exhibited for the first time at STGCC and they showcased several stunning figures including NBA stars Michael Jordan and LeBron James, Bruce Lee and the Terminator.

The most popular figures were the NBA stars.

Michael Jordan was available in three different jerseys.

Michael Jordan

LeBron James was only available in white jersey.

LeBron James

The Michael Jordan figure in the red jersey was the most popular and was sold out in the first day.

Here's some of the other figures on display. The likeness of them are superb.

There's still lots more to see so check back soon!

STGCC 2013 Part 1: Hot Toys

There was a massive amount of toys at STGCC this year. Two days were not enough to fully appreciate what was on display, especially with the huge crowds that turned up. I have tons of photos for you, starting with those of Hot Toys.

(Click here to go straight to the gallery.)

The Hot Toys exclusives for this year were:
  • Captain America (Star Spangled Man Version) [The First Avenger]
  • Joe Colton [G.I. Joe Retaliation]
  • Superman (Evil Version) [Superman III]
  • Iron Man Midas (Mark XXI) [Iron Man 3]

The Iron Man Midas (Mark XXI) was the most sought after of the four and I heard  it was sold out even before the event started. You could still get the other three in the early afternoon on Day 2.

Here's the queue for the exclusives early morning on Day 1. The photo below shows just the queue outside. Inside one of the unused exhibition halls was the main bulk of it. I heard some folks started queuing since early Friday evening. I'm glad I don't collect these anymore.

The highlight from Hot Toys and Action City this year was the life-size Hall of Armor. This was simply awesome! I always look on in envy when I see overseas conventions have these life-size movie displays. It was a fantastic feeling to finally have see something like this at the event!

At the Hall of Armor were displays of Hot Toys Iron Man figures. The displays were similar to the Iron Man 3 exhibits held earlier this year. I had a lot of toys to cover so I didn't take photos of them. You can follow the above link to see those figures, and also here.

Here's the main Hot Toys booth.

At the front of the booth was the life-size statue of the Mark XXI Midas. It was displayed for the first time in Singapore!

And here's the figure that's got a lot of people missing sleep over, the Mark XXI Midas.

There were many Iron Man figures on display, more of which you can see in the gallery.

One of the highlights of the Hot Toys booth was the holographic displays. There were two of them. One of them was of Tony Stark and the other of the Mark VII which you see below.

Here's a video of the holographic animation. It shows specifications, interchangeable armor, combat simulation and weaponry.

There were several upcoming figures on display, including Cloud (comic version) from Storm Riders and Eric Draven from the Crow.

Cloud

Eric Draven

General Zod from Man of Steel, which was revealed just days before STGCC was also on display.

Here's a sample of what other Hot Toys figures were there.

L-R: ED-209 and Robocop

1/4 scale Dark Knight Rises Batman

1960s Batman and Robin

Lone Ranger and Tonto

T2 T-800 Endoskeleton

Predator 2 City Hunter Predator

G.I.Joe Retaliation Storm Shadow

The autographed boxes of the Avengers were also on display.

Lastly the dioramas of  "The Banishment of Thor" and "Avengers Shwarma". Very cool!

We finally have an idea as to how the Bifrost Bridge works. LOL.

DC Universe Club Infinite Earths Signature Collection Poison Ivy

Here's a look at the DC Universe Signature Collection Poison Ivy.

I think this is a good figure. Her hair in particular was very well done. It's very well painted. There's some black mixed in with the red. To top it off, there are several leaves strewn in it. Very nice. The head sculpt is good. She has on a steely gaze which suits her. There's not much detail on her body. The leaves on her suit are just about the only thing. There's a little bit of black wash on them to bring out the pattern of the leaves. The figure would look very plain if not for the vines accessories.

She comes with three vines. Two for her arms and one for her leg. They are meant for aesthetic purposes but you can use them as weapons.

Articulation. She's got a ball joint neck, ball hinge shoulders, bicep swivel, single hinge elbows, wrists swivel, torso rotation, peg hinge hips, thigh swivel, single hinge knees, and ankle hinge. Her neck articulation is limited due to her hair.

I was previously using the DC Direct Hush Poison Ivy in the display. It's a little too tall to fit in with DCUC and it has trouble standing without the base. The sculpt and detail are great though.

Comparison shots.

Poison Ivy was a long overdue figure. The display feels more complete now. There are still plenty more of Batman's rogues gallery to go though.  My most wanted would have to be Ra's al Ghul and Talia. Then there's Firefly, the Mad Hatter and Ventriloquist and Scarface etc. I think I would be satisfied if we got all those. Hope Mattel gets round to producing them. Thanks for viewing!
