DC Action League Series 5

I mentioned before that I wouldn't be getting the whole Action League Flashpoint wave. Well I managed to keep my word. Just barely. LOL. Though all of the characters from the wave are in the image above, one of them doesn't belong.

And that would be The Flash. The figure I'm using is from series 1. The actual figure from this series uses the same sculpt but has a translucent body. I was thinking I wouldn't display him so decided to get Citizen Cold on his own.

Citizen Cold was my main want from this wave. I'll be using him as Captain Cold. Luckily they wear similar costumes. He's got a great sculpt. And I love the gun with the ice blast, it has some cool (doh!) detail on it. He's going to block other figures with his arm and weapon extended like that so he'll have to take a spot in the back of  a display. Hes got four points of articulation, at the neck, shoulders and waist. He will fall depending on how you pose him.

This Batman figure is of the Thomas Wayne (Bruce's father) Batman.  The red circle behind the emblem and red belt differentiates him from the regular Batman. I think he's supposed to have red eyes too. He spots an angry expression on his face and from his pose, looks to be hopping mad. He's actually in the midst of kicking something. He has articulation at the neck, shoulders and waist.  He comes with a stand. I forgot to use it when taking the pics. He can stand okay on his own for some poses.

In the Flashpoint story, Superman had been kept locked up as a child and had never seen daylight, hence his pale complexion. The figure has some resemblance to Superman. The signs point to Bizarro more. What with the messy hair, dark eyes and the S and number 1 on his chest. He has the same articulation as Batman.

I quite like the armour Wonder Woman is wearing. She would look better if the dark grey areas were made even darker, like in the comic. She only has articulation at her neck and shoulders.

Aquaman has a military look about him, with the buzz cut and stripes down the sides of his pants. His gloves and pants are painted glossy black which add to the military feel. He's supposed to have a scar across his nose. Wonder Woman can help with that. I'll assist with a penknife. LOL just kidding. He comes with his trident and also a base.

The Cyborg, Element Woman 2-pack is the most worth it pack to get. In Cyborg you got a solid figure with good colours and detail. And he's able to stand well. He has articulation in the neck, shoulders and waist.

Element Woman has a good amount of detail. You can make out different detail for her different elemental abilities. Paint wise there's quite a bit of bleeding at her white costume areas. Shes only got articulation at her neck and shoulders.

I read that the last known assortment of Action League has finally started appearing in some stores in the US. We can finally get the likes of Shazam and Atom with Plastic Man glider. Look out for them. Thanks for viewing!

DC Action League Series 4

Love these figures. Would have preferred if there were less of them with outstretched arms. Its tougher to display them.

Batman Vs Bronze Tiger

Batman is the same figure as the one released in Series 2. Great figure. He is still the only character to feature ball and hinge shoulders.

Bronze Tiger was to have been released in the Batman: Brave and the Bold Action League line but wasn't. Great that he eventually made it. I'm not sure that if its the same figure as the one that showed up online.  Anyway, this is a decent figure. Pretty good paint and detail. Like the tiger stripes at the top of his gloves and boots. And also the teeth painted on his face.

Martian Manhuinter & Deadman

Like the sculpt of Martian Manhunter. Unfortunately, the pants spoils the look for me. I'm probably just too used to him being in trunks. I also don't mind the full body costume but this just puts me off. He looks more like a pirate to me. His cape weighs him down and he tends to fall backwards. To counter this, just extend his arms outwards.

Deadman is a nice figure. He's made mostly of translucent plastic, giving him a ghostly appearance. Theres some nice detail on him like the wrinkles on his face. His feet are sculpted together and there are some waves around them. To me, it seems like he has just risen from the ground and the waves are his abilities in action. Due to the collar, you can only turn his head a little either side.

Professor Zoom Vs The Flash

Professor Zoom is the same figure as the Flash from Series 1, except that he's wearing reverse colours. Having the two racing side by side makes for a good display.

You can tell that this Flash is again Barry Allen from the style of his belt.  I like his thinner face compared to the Series 1 version. He comes with a whirlwind accessory which can be placed on his outstretched arm. Its a pretty cool accessory as thats one of the manoeuvres he uses. The feet are warped on my figure and he has trouble standing.

Arkillo & Sinestro

Sinestro comes in his Sinestro Corps costume. Wonder when they'll release him in my preferred classic costume of blue an black. He has the same pose as the White Lantern version which was released in Series 1. This figure is smaller though. I like the shade of red used for his skin.

Arkillo is a bigger sized figure and is well sculpted. Like the teeth. He looks mean and cute at the same time. He's a great addition.

The Lantern figures in the line so far. There's also a half green half blue Hal not pictured. The Guardian came in a Green Lantern movie pack.

This is another great bunch of figures. Next up is Series 5 which is the Flashpoint wave. I don't usually like characters in costumes outside of my preferred versions. I doubt I'll be getting the whole wave this time.

DC Action League series 3

This series has been out in the US for a couple of months. Happy to have finally got them.

Batman Vs Deathstroke

Batman is a repaint of the same figure from series 2. He's wearing an all black costume. Its supposed to resemble the costume from the first Batman movie. I don't really like the look but I love the figure.

Deathstroke is a nice figure. The bright orange parts of his costume make him stand out. He's got some nice detail like the scales of his armour. He's carrying two weapons which are not removeable. Love that they gave him those. The sword looks more of a knife. Looking at the following picture again, I can imagine him telling Batman, "You call that a knife ? This is a knife."

Kilowog Vs Zilius Zox

This pack is one of two from this series that I consider a must have. These two characters have new and unique sculpts. And they are fun to play with.

Kilowog is taller and bigger than the regular figures. He stands around three inches tall, which puts him a head above the regular sized figures. He's only got articulation at the shoulders and waist. I love this figure. One minor issue is that he looks a little fat around the chin and neck.

Zilius Zox is a great figure. Love the sculpt. Especially the open mouth and teeth. Height wise, he just reaches the chest of a normal sized figure. He's only got articulation at his shoulders.

Hal Jordan & Saint Walker

This is my least favourite pack of the series. Hal is the same figure from series one, now spotting a half green, half blue lantern costume, resembling how he appeared in the comic. This will be kept away as I always prefer the normal look of characters.

Saint Walker is a decent figure. He's a skinny character and I think thats been translated pretty well to the figure. He has a thinner body and limbs. Unfortunately for me, my figure lacks any ring design. Its just a blue circle on his finger.

Hal has a green energy fist which fits on his left hand. I'm not sure, but shouldn't it be blue for the left side ? Anyway, always happy to get accessories with these figures.

Superman & Wonder Woman

This is the other must get pack of this series. For we get the first female Action League figure, and it's Wonder Woman. Great looking figure. Like her sweeping hair, but it restricts her neck articulation. Her only other articulation points are her shoulders. The symbol on her chest is sculpted on. Nice that there are some stars on the lower part of her costume, would have liked some on the rear as well.

Superman is the exact same figure from series one. He appears again after only two waves. Great for those who didn't get him previously. Would have preferred a new character. Cheetah perhaps, but I doubt Mattel would go for two females in a single pack.

Three waves and we have the big three. Good stuff.

DC Action League series 2

Another good looking set of DC Action League figures.

Batman vs The Joker

This pack is the must get of this wave. Batman especially looks great. His expression is serious enough and he looks all action with batarang drawn and flowing cape. I also like the shade of blue they used.

He's also got extra articulation in the form of hinge joints on his shoulders.

The Joker is decent looking. One thing is, you can't turn him at his waist much as his coat tails get in the way.

A comparison with the Brave and the Bold versions. They have their own appeal, but I prefer the current DC Action League versions.

Green Arrow vs Prometheus

Like GA's head sculpt and his bright green colours. The way he is posed, he's going to shoot someone's head off.

Don't know anything about Prometheus. He looks a bit like Batman. His visor looks cool. A check on wiki says he can download abilities through it. Lucky for his white cape to give him some contrast and make him a bit more noticeable.

John Stewart vs Atrocitus

John Stewart has a good likeness. His lips seem a bit fat but thats okay for these figures.  Paint is pretty bad on my piece. Like the giant rings they're giving these guys.

Red, mean Atrocitus has a good head sculpt with some nice detail. He appears a bit bigger than the other figures. His shoulder pads are stuck in place and they do not get in the way of him moving his arms.

Tomar-Re vs Low

Like the "don't mess with me" look Tomar-Re is spotting. The figure looks good. Nice bright colours. Dislike figures with extended arms when they don't really need to be. They can be an incovenience on the display shelf.

Low looks pretty good. There's a black mark on his head on my piece which is not supposed to be there.

The League is starting to come together. Superman looks to be a bit small now.
