Revoltech Fullmetal Alchemist Alphonse Elric

Here's Edward's younger brother, Alphonse Elric.

He does not come with as many accessories as Ed. I would have liked for a couple of transmutation pieces to be included. What we did get are an extra head, 2 extra pairs of hands, a "stomp" effect base and a stand (not pictured).

This is just a decent figure for me. I would have liked it better if not for his size. He should be larger and taller. You can see a comparison shot with Ed a little further down. I also think that the torso is too rounded. That along with his rather large looking thighs give him a chunky appearance. The headsculpt is great though, good likeness. The paint is pretty good overall. Look out for paint chips on his face and "collar" if you're buying one though. And also select one with a straight apron. Mine was stuck on crooked.

There's not a lot of  detail on the figure to talk about. The most significant one is the blood symbol which Ed drew to seal Al's soul in the armour. You can click on the images to enlarge.

Some shots of the heads.

He's got great articulation. And like Ed, most of the joints are Revoltech joints, except for the knees which are hinge joints. The knees can bend very well, just as good as double jointed knees.

Comparison shots. As mentioned earlier, I would have liked if Al was bigger and taller. Ed's height is around Al's mid torso.

The Metal Men have a new member.

So we've gotten Ed and Al. Hope we get more Fullmetal Alchemist characters. Thanks for viewing!

Revoltech Fullmetal Alchemist Edward Elric

The Revoltech figures were released at just the right time. I happen to be watching Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood on Animax. It's currently still screening on weekdays at 1130pm. Here's a look at Edward Elric.

He comes with a good number of interchangeable parts and accessories. They include 3 more faces with different expressions, 3 hands, his Automail arm with an open hand and closed fist, an automail blade, a ripped piece of clothing which attaches to his automail arm and 3 blue transmutation effect pieces. You can keep the accessories in the orange box provided. I personally just replace everything back in the box.

A stand and a "stomp" effect base is also included.

This is a great figure. The likeness is good. I only like 3 out of the 4 faces provided though. The default face with the slight frown looks off to me. There's a joint at his upper torso. The top half of his shirt tends to flip open, revealing a gap between upper and lower torso. Its just a minor gripe. It gets annoying when you're posing the figure to take photos but once you got it down and in your display, its fine. I think his coat is a little too bulky. Again its another minor gripe. Once he's in action poses you'll like it. The paint is great overall. One thing I don't like is the touch of white on his eyes near his nose. It cuts the outline of his eyes. That's okay but the white should not overshoot the border.

Closeup of his faces.

Don't let him catch you referring to him as short...

He's got great articulation. Most of the articulation points are Revoltech joints, except for his knees. There's only a hinge joint there, possibly for aesthetic purposes. I think its better this way, otherwise we'll see the ball shaped joints there, like at his elbows.

Here are more pics. You can click them to enlarge.

Some comparison shots. He's slightly taller than a figma.

And of course shorter than Marvel Legends and DC Universe Classics.

Check back soon for Al. Thanks for viewing!

Batman Stealth Strike The Riddler (Brave and the Bold)

Another Batman line which has shown up recently in stores is the Stealth Strike line. This line was released in the US in the last quarter of 2011. The style of the figures is the same as the Batman Brave and the Bold line. I got this Riddler figure a couple of months back from overseas.

This figure was a surprise. The Brave and the Bold line had been cancelled and there was no mention of it at the toy shows or in the media. Great that he got released, he'll slot straight into the collection. He's got a great head sculpt. He's got that smug, know it all expression on his face. The body is pretty much the same as with previous Brave and the Bold figures. He's wearing his classic costume. He's got great paint. The question marks on his costume are clean and sharp.

He comes with a question mark cane accessory. If I remember correctly, he appeared with it briefly in the cartoon. The cane is hollow on one side but it does not affect his grip of it. You cannot attach the cane to any of the holes on the figure like with previous Brave and the Bold figures.

Articulation. The neck and waist rotate, and he's got peg shoulders, single hinge elbows and peg hips.

The Riddler is a must have if you're a fan of the Brave and the Bold line. I didn't like the figures at first, but they look great when you got a bunch of them together.

Riddle me this, who's white faced, likes to wear purple and has a figure from the toy lines represented below?

Batman Power Attack Strike Shield Robin

Here's a look at Strike Shield Robin.

Robin is part of the Lava Mission series. A normal costumed Batman and Two-Face are the other notables in this series.

His cape is tagged to the plastic tray. Do take note when removing the figure.

Let's start with some good points of the figure. His face is decent, the logo is well painted and sharp, he's got great paint overall, the belt has some nice detail and he's got a nice cloth cape. Now for what I don't like about it. First, the way his hair is sculpted. I think it sticks out too much over his forehead and it looks like a cap from certain angles. And the streak of red isn't doing it for me. Due to the style of these figures, the thighs and knees are thinner than the calves. Its just awkward. His shoes are oversized. You would have thought that with such large feet the figure would be more stable but unfortunately its not. He tends to lean and fall forwards due to the way his legs are sculpted. You need to make him lean back for him to stand. I would have preferred if he was painted the way he's presented on the back of the package. You'll notice his tights are red instead of black and he's missing painted details on his shoulder pads, gauntlets, belt and shoes.

His hair sticks out too much and it looks like a cap from certain angles.

And as they're very noticeable, here's a pic of his shoes. There's nice detail on them and they look real comfy.

He comes with a great looking shield accessory.

Articulation. The neck rotates, arms can be moved up and down, elbows bend, the waist rotates and the legs go up and down. I think the best pose for this figure is of him walking.

Some comparison shots. He's the same height as Killer Croc.

He's too big for The Batman line.

I think he fits in best with the Young Justice figures.

The Young Justice Robin is the best of the three pictured below.

This is a disappointing figure. I picked it up so you don't have to... Thanks for viewing!
