Custom Figma Louise

While I like the Nendoroid figure, what I really wanted was a Figma. So here's my custom Figma Louise.

One of the key considerations for me was to use parts from the least number of figures as possible to keep costs down. I also didn't want to do too much painting as I'm poor at it. I'm happy to say that I only used two figures for this. I think she turned out okay. One thing which could be better is her hair. The character has a great volume of it. I was considering using K-On!'s Mugi's hair but her face was not what I was looking for and of course there's the budget to keep in mind. Figma parts are easily interchangeable, and after that its just painting. The medallion, ribbon and cloak were self made with objects lying about.

I made the mistake of using felt for her cloak initially and so there's tiny threads stuck to her clothes. I cut up an old shirt for it in the end.

Here's some accessories I put together for her. The wand and riding crops are from the Nendoroid figure. Now I need to look for an angry face which fits this body.

Some more pics of the figure. The paint has started to come off due to my handling and posing it.

I'll have to look into making the figure shorter. She's actually quite a short character.

The figure is in need of a repaint. I don't think I'll do it though. Sometimes the more you touch it the worse it becomes. I hope that there will be an official Figma made of her. Thanks for viewing!

Nendoroid Louise

My first Nendoroid, and its one of my favourite characters, Louise Françoise Le Blanc de La Vallière. She's from the series Zero no Tsukaima (The Familar of Zero).

This figure will be re-released in May 2012. Was waiting for that but I found this one being sold for a good price. Happy to have it in hand.

If you're looking for this figure, do see if you can get it from Hobby Stock. I read that extras like a diorama and standees of Saito will be included as a bonus if you preordered from them. I got that piece of info from Tomopop.

The figure comes with interchangeable faces and arms, her cloak, her wand, two riding crops (one straight and one bent), a prayer/spell book and a base. Her hands are interchangeable too.

The figure cannot stand on its own and you'll need to use the base. You clip the back of her legs to make her stand. It appears that the figure can only stand straight. There is articulation at her hips but I don't see how as yet how to put her in a running pose for example and remain standing. There's also articulation at her neck, shoulders and wrists. Her arms don't stay on very well, but that could be due to my figure being second hand. Right, now for some pics.

Louise looks so cute, even with her angry face!

Has she cast a spell on you?

There's no need to be mean, she tries her best.

Look what you've done, you've made her cry.

I'll start running if I were you.

Love this figure. I hope I don't get bitten too hard by the Nendoroid bug. Thanks for viewing!

Gundam System Base 001

I happened to wander into the Gundam section while searching for Avengers movie figures and came across this. Thought it would make a good display piece, especially for Iron-Man.

Here's the box.

I don't collect Gundam so here's some images on the box how they look on the base. The base is meant for 1/144 scale Gundams. Some of the features are also shown. You can click on the images to enlarge.

This is a model kit. There aren't that many parts so it can be assembled pretty quickly.

These are the main pieces of the base. Once you get to this stage its very easy to put together and dismantled for storage.

The base looks to be a maintenance bay for Gundam. The pieces fit together securely and the features function well. It looks a little dull colour wise but the detail makes up for it. There's nice panelling on the front.

There's not as much detail on the back.

On the sides of the base you can put brackets and clips. You can adjust the width between brackets and the height of the clips. They're meant for guns and those long cannons that some Gundam carry.

I tried them out with some guns for 6" figures. They fit decently enough. The clips can be split apart into two. If you have a weapon which cannot be fitted in normally you can open the clip and fit it on a narrower part of the weapon. Only four clips were provided though so we'll need to come up with something for the other side of the base.

You could possibly customise a weapons rack out of this for the Punisher.

Here's some figures which I tried out with the base.

The main reason I bought this for is to use it with Iron-man. Several of these side by side would make for a nice armory. Only thing is a lot of space will be needed for it.

A feature of the base is that the platform which the figure is standing on together with the back portion can be tilted. The image below shows the maximum angle it can be tilted. It can go horizontal but you'll need to fashion a stand of some sort to support it.

The base can be reconfigured to make it wider. You'll have to maually disaasemble and reassemble it.

Here's some larger sized figures which I tried with the wide configuration.

The system base is a great display piece. It looks good and the features are useful. I think regular sized 6" or 5" figures work best with it. I'm considering picking up more.

That's all for now. Thanks for viewing!

Young Justice Collect and Connect Hall of Justice

We don't get many playsets nowadays. Not that I want them, they are big and occupy a lot of space. But its nice to have a place for the figures to hang out. I think this collect and connect Hall of Justice is a good idea. It gives us somewhere to display our figures on and its slim enough to fit onto a shelf too. The thing which I don't like about this is how it was released.

There are 16 pieces which are packaged with 12 different single carded figures. The figures were spread across 3 waves. It took around 10 months just to complete this set. The last wave of figures, which is the third wave, was particularly hard to get. Of all the BAF and CnC series, I rate this the toughest and most frustrating to complete.

Assembling the Hall of Justice is easy. The pieces lock together tightly and are difficult to separate. It measures 57cm (around 22.5") in length and 31cm (around 12.2") in height to the tallest point. I actually don't have a proper place for it at the moment. I want to pack it up but I don't want to risk breaking the pegs.  Its a good representaion from the Young Justice cartoon. I would love if it had more steps.

Here's the back view.

Here's how it looks with the Young Justice figures. Its only okay for me. I feel the lowest letters should not be blocked by the figures. It just needed to be a little taller.

Here's some other lines you might want to try. Next up is JLU.

Batman Brave and the Bold.

I think Action League look the best with it. I'll most likely use it to display them on.

The DCUC Super Friends would love to have the place but of course they are too big for it.

And finally, Marvel Universe. For if and when we get proper 3.75" scale DC figures.

Its a nice display piece. But as I mentioned before, its very frustrating to collect. Hope you have an easier time than me with your Hall of Justice. Thanks for viewing!
