Marvel Universe Fantastic Four 3-Pack (Standard & Variant)

A double dose of Marvel Universe Fantastic Four.

The packaging is the same for both versions.

The figures of both sets are largely the same, the main difference are the costumes. And to make things a little easier, from here onwards, F4 refers to the blue costumed version while FF refers to the Future Foundation version.

Mr Fantastic looks better than the first MU version from the Secrets Wars pack. He's got a new head sculpt and has the taller, thinner body, which I think suits hm. I like the shade of blue on the F4, and also the logo which is strong and clear. The lines on his costume are painted on. The thickness of them are not consistant but they add some detail. I don't really like the short sleeves. I guess they can wear it in summer and break the long sleeves one out for winter.

I delibrately chose a pack where the costumes of the FF were more gray. Some of the figures I saw had some all white parts and it made the figures look awkward. Again, the lines and logo are painted on.

There's some paint difference on his hair. FF possibly went to have his dyed.

Invisible Woman is the main the reason for getting this pack. I wish they had made a dark blue costumed one first to go along with the previously released Fantastic Four members. Anyway, both look great. Especially like the head sculpt.

I like what they did with her hair, rather than using Black Widow's or something.

Both the Things are nice, but I can't seem to get either version to stand properly. F4 is barefooted while FF is wearing pants and shoes. I like the F4 Thing's shade of orange. I might mix him in with the standard costume Fantastic Four. The FF Thing is lacking his singlet. Can't just paint it on him. Going the animated style and just painting the logo on may be an option.

Some of the various Marvel Universe Thing figures. I always liked the trunks version.

H.E.R.B.I.E. is included in the three-packs. There is no difference between the two from the packs. The legs are warped from the package and may have difficulty standing. He's got one point of articulation at the neck. He can rotate his head fully and look up and down.

Both teams look good.

We still don't have a complete in costume Fantastic Four. Well, the FF is but its not the same without the Human Torch.

This pack is a must get to complete the Fantastic Four. The costumes may not match but at least we now have all the orginal members. The easiest combination would be to use a flame on Human Torch with the F4. For local collectors, the Future Foundation pack is available in speciallity shops.

Disney Store Exclusive Marvel Select Classic Thor

Here's something I don't get very often, a Marvel Select figure. And it's a Disney Store exclusive too.

I wanted a bigger Thor to replace my Marvel Legends one. I thought this figure looked impressive and so I got it. It's a pretty good figure, I just have a few gripes. His face is only okay to me, it looks flat and he's got a bit of a constipated look. His body looks disproportianate. The torso is too long, giving him a stumpy appearance. The thing I like most about this figure is his cape. Its big and flowy. It goes up then curves downwards and has a wider gap between cape and shoulders than most other Thor figures. The ML3 Thor had something like this but here it looks so much better.

Articulation. His head can be rotated and can be moved up and down slightly. His hair along with his cape hinders it though. His arms can be raised up till they reach the cape. He can also stretch his arms outwards. Elbows have swivel and hinge action. Wrists swivel. The waist can be rotated. His legs can be moved sidewards to a certain point. And rotated forwards but he will just look awkward. He's not able to do a running pose. It really needs a thigh swivel. Knees are double jointed. Ankles have hinge and swivel action.

The Mjolnir that comes with him is a little small. Its the one on the right in the following pic.

He comes with a rock base. It has some blue streaks in it. The effects of lightning perphaps.

He stands almost a head taller than the Walmart Marvel Legends Thor. And he's about the same height as the SDCC Thor.

He's almost eye to eye with the 8" rotocast Destroyer.

Thor is just a little too tall to fit in with the Marvel Legends figures. but its acceptable to me and he will join the group on the display shelf.

I will most likely stick with this Thor until a better one comes along. The next figure I hope to get a better one of is a Jim Lee Cyclops.

Asgardian Glow Marvel's Odin

I already had the previous version, but I thought the colours were pretty cool and so I got it.

Here his armour is shiny blue and gold, and his clothes are maroon. The combination gives him more contrast. Aside from the colours, this figure is the same as the previously released Shield Bash Odin. The head has a good likeness to how he appeared in the movie. His armour and clothes has some nice detail. His clothes are leather like. The cape is attached to his back and cannot be removed. Well, you could if you wanted. Overall, he's a very nice looking figure.

Articulation. He's got a ball and hinge neck, ball and hinge shoulders, swivel and hinge elbows, wrist swivel, torso pivot, ball and hinge hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees and swivel and hinge ankles.

This figure is the third version of this particular Odin figure. There were two versions of the Shield Bash Odin. The one with gold armour is the most movie accuarate one. It's a tie between gold and blue armoured ones for me, I like both of them. The silver one is nice too but it lacks the "kingly quality" when compared with the other two.

He has the same oversized, gimicky sword and shield like the Shield Bash Odin. But here they are dark grey and gold in colour. The colours bring out detail on them and they look so much better. The sides of the sword open up at the push of a button and you can further open it up into a claw like weapon. Push the button on the shield and spikes pop out. Would have liked if he were given normal sized weapons, and also a helmet.

Odin is around the same height as the Hammer Smash Thor and shorter than the Marvel Universe Secret Wars Thor.

This figure has its own appeal but I think I'm going to stick with the gold armoured one for display. I'll use this one when he needs a wardrobe change.

Bat-Mite Presents: Batman Legacy Golden Age Batman

Hey toy people, are you looking for this Batman figure? He's should be available in most stores. But if you're looking to get me too, I'm only available at K-mart. Batman and me packed together, how great is that! And what fun it is to see you scrambling around, just looking for us! For those of you not in the US, I see theres plenty of us on ebay. Wow! Is that how much we're going for? Forget this, I'm off to K-mart!

Wait a minute, I've already cleared them out. Now to list them on ebay!

And... done! Now where was I? Ah yes, the pics. Here he is, Batman! The Dark Knight, the Caped Crusader, the World's Greatest Detective and my hero! Don't you think he's always too serious nowadays? Let's put a smile on... oh wait hang on... Batman with a smile?... Now I see, golden age version... round, smiley face... reminds me of the time when I first met him. Or was that during the silver age? Anyway, the bat symbol was pretty big back then wasn't it. What else... oh yeah he comes with a gold base and a poster too. This figure will look good in the JSA display or with the other Batman swag.

Now for the part you fanboys have been waiting for, the pics of me! When people see these, there'll be even more demand for me, and Batman too! Check me out. Excellent head sculpt, am I right? I like my mischievious smile and buck teeth. Don't let my floppy looking ears, stomach and long flat feet fool you. I can fight crime just as good as Batman. I have superb articulation, five points to be exact. At the neck, shoulders and hips. My arms are soft, thats so I can slip away from your grubby hands more easily. Imagine being fiddled around with... but, if it were Batgirl...

Oh, a comparison pic. No need for that. The Golden Age Batman along with me are the only figures you need.

With Brave and the Bold figures too? Didn't I just get the show cancelled? Oh lookie here, I'm taller than Action League. I can just see the new animated show, Bat-Mite and Batboy!

Haven't seen these three in those costumes for some time.

You're stilll here? Go get these figures now!

Justice League Unlimited STRIPE

I've been wanting a JLU STRIPE figure for a long time, so much so that I made a custom of him back when around Stargirl was released in the three-pack to stand in. There's a pic of that below. I'm glad to have got this figure, my custom is cracking up, literally.

STRIPE is a pretty good looking figure. He's big and tall as he should be. I think he could use more bulk though, he seems a bit thin. There's supposed to be a man in the suit after all. His arms seem a bit too long. There's some nice sculpted detail on him, hope you can make out the lines and panels in the pics. Surprised to see it. With JLU, I assumed Mattel would have left it plain and smooth. He's made in a pearl white colour. Would have prefered if he were plain white. As it is, he'll appear sun damaged compared to the rest of the figures. He has the same articulation as most other JLU figures, at the neck, shoulders and hips.

He comes with interchangeable heads, one helmet and one of Pat Dugan. The heads can be easily removed and replaced. I think this way is better than having the helmet fit over his head. The helmet may be too big if that were the case.

I'll have to get a Stargirl custom done one day...

A quick comparison. He stands more than a head taller than the standard size figure.

He looks good with the oversized figures too.

Although of a good size, I like him to be taller and bigger. Like my custom. He's pretty bad I know, but I like the size. The base is an animated Spawn figure in case you're wondering.

STRIPE fills a big gap in my collection. I look forward to the remaining releases.
