Marvel Universe Captain America (wave 22)

Here's a look at the latest version of the Marvel Universe Captain America.

This is the modern version of Captain America. I love the colours of the figure. The body used is the current standard base body most new releases are on. He's head sculpt is new. The likeness is good. He's got a square jaw and you can make out his chin more clearly. There's a little more facial lines which gives him an older and more seasoned look. His eyes were well painted. He's lacking the "scales" on his upper torso.  It's a glaring omission as Cap almost always has the them in the comics. The belt is glued on. It looks a little awkward as there's no belt loops. The glove and boot tops are also glued on. They have a some textured detail on them.  The paint application is poor. The A on his forehead was not properly painted on. The star on his chest is fuzzy and there's bleeding on his biceps where the blue and white meet.

He comes with his shield. It's painted with metallic paint. I love how it looks. It suits the figure really well with its similar shades of colours. The shield has only a clip. It's a little loose around his wrist. Just slide it up his forearm a little and it'll be more secure. I would have liked if it had straps so he can carry it on his back.

Articulation. He's got a ball hinge neck, ball hinge shoulders, bicep swivel, single hinge elbows, wrist swivel, torso pivot, waist rotation, ball hips, thigh swivel double jointed knees, calf swivel and ankle hinge and pivot. He can look up and down really well.

Comparison shots. This will be my new display Captain America.

This is a good figure. Shame about the "scales". Since we're revisiting previously released characters hopefully Vision and Nick Fury are in the works. Thanks for viewing!

Marvel Universe Elektra

Here's the Marvel Universe Elektra.

Elektra looks good. I got a couple of gripes though. First, her eyes were painted looking to her right.  Second, her head scarf was not fully painted. There's a gap of hair showing between the "cap" portion and the ends. I like her long flowing hair. The straps on her arms and legs were painted on. The hanging part of her sash is is a little too wide. If we pose her with both legs raised, the whole sash will move up to her abs.

She comes with two sais. They are made of soft plastic. Her grip on them is quite loose.

If not for both her hands having been sculpted with a gap between her first and second finger so she can hold them better, she'll be dropping them whenever we move the figure. It's quite irritating if we want to pose her with the sais in the reverse direction as in the image above.

One more thing. You can store the sais in her sash. I just noticed it on the card back image and tried it.

Articulation. She's got a ball hinge neck, ball hinge shoulders, swivel hinge elbows, wrist swivel, torso pivot, ball hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees, calf swivel, and ankle hinge and pivot. Her hair restricts head articulation. She can only turn her head about 45 degrees either side. She cannot look up but she can look down very well.

That's all for now. Thanks for viewing!

Marvel Universe Mysterio

How many figures do you see in the image above? If you said four, you're absolutely correct. Wait a minute...

Here he is the Master of Illusions. It's hard to miss his fishbowl helmet. The helmet is translucent. You can make out his head inside. There's a slot in the helmet where the head fits into so the it won't move around too much. He's got a very nice cape. It's textured and has many folds in it. The helmet and cape are glued together. It is quite heavy and it will pull his upper torso back. If his cape were just a little longer, it could support him and then he would be able to stand straight. The body is just a repainted standard base body. His glove tops are glued onto his forearms and they have a pattern detail on them.

His helmet is removeable. And underneath he's got an unpainted head. I can't recall if he appeared unmasked before so I did a quick check. Quentin Beck was indeed bald in an appearance but I don't think the head sculpt here is of him. There's a line down the middle of his head too. You know who it reminds me of? The Chameleon. It would be great if we got him.

Articulation. He's got a ball hinge neck. With helmet on his head can't be moved. There's ball hinge shoulders, bicep swivel, single hinge elbows, wrist swivel, torso pivot, waist rotation, ball hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees, calf swivel and ankle hinge and pivot.

Hopefully we'll be able to complete the original Sinister Six one day.

Mysterio is another great addition. Thanks for viewing!

Marvel Universe Rhino

Finally some new Marvel Universe figures! First up is classic Rhino.

The figures I got are on the trilingual packaging. There's no comic shot included. I don't know about the US cards.

Rhino was one of my most wanted figures since he was shown at SDCC, or was it NYTF... Anyway, he's simply an awesome figure. Just check out the detail on the figure. His suit is textured and there's little bumps and cracks. His toe nails are worn and has scratches on them. His horns are made of soft plastic and they too are textured. The body is light grey in colour and the dark grey was painted on. I'm okay with it but I would have preferred if a single colour was picked. There's just a little too much contrast. The joints were painted dark grey too but after fiddling around with the figure, a lot of it has been scrapped off. Speaking of joints, his hands pop out very easily when turned.

He's got a great head sculpt. I like the expression on his face. He looks pissed. His eyes were well painted. His face paint is rather thick and its spilled over onto his suit on both sides of his face.

Here's the side view. The rhino eyes are there.

Articulation. He's got a ball joint neck, ball hinge shoulders, swivel hinge elbows, wrist swivel, torso pivot, ball hips, swivel hinge knees and ankle hinge and pivot. His head can only be rotated and he cannot look up or down. He can bend forwards well.

He stands well, even on one leg and can do a charging pose.

Comparison shots. I can finally replace the Fiercest Foes Rhino.

Rhino is part of wave 22. There's another Spider-man villain in this wave and he'll be up next. Thanks for viewing!
