A Certain Magical Event (ACME) IV

A Certain Magical Event (ACME) is an event for anime and manga fans. The event is into its fourth year. This year, it was held on 25th August 2012 at the Singapore Expo Garnet Rooms. I only got to know about it a day before the event. I was already going to pass by the area that day, so I brought my camera along and dropped in for a quick look.

Here's the floor plan.

Outside the venue, there were many groups of people playing card games.

Two special guests would grace the event. They were vocalist Yanagi Nagi and illustrator Suzuhira Hiro.

Though the event floor was pretty crowded, you could move around comfortably thanks to the ample walking space.

There were lots of anime merchadise being sold, such as banners, cards, posters and toys.

Various dolls were on display and for sale.

There were tournaments for Bushiroad TCGs like Weiss Schwarz and Cardfight! Vanguard. On the gaming side, there were Touhou Hisoutensoku and Gundam vs Gundam tournaments.

You can view all the images below. I'm trying out this slideshow thingy. Do let me know if there are any problems with it.

*If  the images are showing up partially, just refresh. I'll see if I can find a solution.

STGCC 2012: A Quick Guide to Sands Expo and Convention Center

The Singapore Toy Games and Comic Convention (STGCC) will be held at the Sands Expo and Convention Center for the first time this year. I have never been there until recently. I took the opportunity to look around and snap some photos.

Getting There by MRT

Marina Bay Sands is linked to Bayfront MRT Station. Take the Circle Line and alight at Promenade station where you'll need to change trains. Make your way to Platform B. Two trains share this line. Board the train when the display says Marina Bay. Bayfront Station is just one stop away.

Alternatively, you can take a train on the North South Line to Marina Bay Station and transfer to the Circle Line. Bayfront Station is just one stop away.

Click here for other ways of getting to Marina Bay Sands.

Once you reach Bayfront station, look for Exit E and you'll be right outside the Sands Expo and Convention Center.

If you have time to spare, do take a look around. The following image is the start point when you enter the Shoppes area from the Convention Center.

The next few images are what you can see when you follow the shops to the left from the start point.

There are many food establishments around. But if you're on a budget like me, you'll want to eat at one of the food courts. The food courts are located at the far end of each wing.

Alternatively, you can grab something from 7-Eleven and get a drink from Gong Cha.

Don't forget you can flash your STGCC ticket at Gong Cha and get 1 Free Choice of Topping for Calpis Drinks series. Terms and Conditions apply.

The following images are what you can see when you follow the shops to the right from the start point.

Toast Box is another budget dining option.

The food court near the ice skating rink looks to be very popular.

You can take great shots of the city skyline and the Esplanade when you head straight out the glass doors from the start point.

STGCC 2012 is just 8 days away! Come 1st September, the halls will be a buzz with activity. Can't wait! Hope to see you there!

The Avengers 3.75" Cosmic Axe Chitauri

The Avengers 3.75" series 4 is out at local retail. It's very surprising as we don't usually get anything beyond the first two series of a movie line.

I'll get straight to the main issue. This Chitauri figure is the same as the one in the Cosmic Chariot Invasion pack. Which means there's no elbow or knee articulation. Very disappointing. And there on the package he's nicely posed with elbow and knees bent. There are paint differences. This figure is dull coloured, which is more accurate to how they appeared in the movie. Also more of the armour is painted, notably on his arms and legs.

He comes with two accessories. A blaster rifle...

... and a missle launching axe. There's some nice detail on it. It's supposed to be a gimmick accessory but I think it suits the Chitauri just fine.

Articulation. It's just a ball joint neck, ball hinge shoulders, ball hinge hips, thigh swivel and swivel hinge ankles.

I now have an army of two. And its going to stay that way, at least until I can get a discount on them. Thanks for viewing!
